The Betty Anderson Award

Recognising the helpers. The people who make our school a better place.

About the Betty Anderson Award

Betty Anderson is a former parent of The Junction Public School who ran our school canteen on a voluntary basis for over 40 years through to about 2009. She continued to help long after her own children had grown up and her grandchildren were attending other local schools. Our canteen is named in her honour. Betty passed away in 2018.

Each year TJPS P&C awards the Betty Anderson Award to recognise significant voluntary contribution to our school community over an extended period of time. The aim is to try and identify the "quiet achievers" who repeatedly give their time to our school community. There are many people who provide quiet and consistent support in ways that we don't always realise, and it's important to find an opportunity to recognise their efforts.
